I haven’t written my own About page yet, because I find it hard to write about myself.
But I just got inspired by ChiQ Montes’ Graphic Profile on her About page.
Basically, as you can see in the smaller version I’ve included here, she’s created a well-designed montage of her favorite things, with a number in each picture that corresponds to a key under the graphic. For instance, the photo of Uno cards has a big white number 1 in the corner, and number 1 in the list underneath says: “1. I love playing UNO Cards!”
I’m definitely going to borrow this idea for my own About page, and hopefully I’ll remember to create a tutorial on how to create your own Graphic Profile. Maybe I’ll even add ‘Graphic Profile Creation’ as a service for those of you who would rather have me create one for you with the images you provide.
Other ideas I have:
- Put the individual images the montage into jigsaw puzzle pieces.
- Create a Comic Strip Profile of favorite things using Comic Life software.

I’ve owned my iMac for just a few months now. I love it, but the most frustrating hiccups I’ve had is when I’ve had my toddler, Rocco, on my lap and he’s gone crazy on the keyboard. He’s already renamed my hard drive, but the worst thing that happened was when the whole screen became larger and would move around with the mouse. It really freaked me out. It makes the computer only just usable. Just usable enough to try to find the fix. Read more . . .

I’ve been working on getting Web Design Watchdog up and running for a couple of weeks now after planning it for many months.
I’ve decided it’s now time to start posting articles and do the final tweaks to the design after going ‘live’.
I already have 62 post drafts, so I have plenty to write about.
So, please subscribe to Web Design Watchdog using the jolly big buttons on the top right of this page, and stay tuned. Web Design Watchdog is only a new puppy right now, but I’m on the verge of a very big growth spurt.
Feel free to leave a comment about what you’d like me to write about. I’ll respond to every comment.

Are you a Mac owner with a wired Mighty Mouse who has ever had trouble with scrolling with the roller button? I’ve had a bit of trouble with mine. A few times I’ve temporarily lost the ability to scroll upwards with it. Very annoying. I was thinking of buying a new one off eBay so I had a look at the Apple site to see what the RRP for one is (mine came with my new iMac a few months ago).
Well, in the customer reviews (of all places) I found out how to fix the scroll button. Turns out, like a lot of computer problems, it’s a cleaning issue. You just need to get that tiny little ball clean again.

Today I had the strangest problem.
Normally, I don’t have problems with Firefox, my web browser. (Which happens to be much better than Internet Explorer, by the way. Please switch to Firefox.)
So, I was very surprised when I found my Download Statusbar extension wasn’t appearing when I downloaded stuff. Then I tried to save an image to my Desktop, and it just wouldn’t save. I thought I was going crazy.

Darren Rowse of ProBlogger has written a great post about batch processing his blogging-related tasks. Doing similar tasks in batches is a great time-saving (and sanity-saving) technique for most activities in life, not just blogging. Darren goes into detail about how he does it, and it’s well worth a read.

Great article about writing headlines, by Copyblogger (one of my favorite bloggers). My favorite line from the article is: “In fact, this headline makes me want to give up blogging and become a shepherd.” I’ve had that fleeting feeling.

When Google first created its beta (first draft) home page and set up a test to see how well it would work, there was a problem.
“[Our beta testers] would sit in front of the Google screen for 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds, a minute…Google was perplexed.”
Interested in what the problem was and how easily it was fixed? Read the article:

More people are switching to a better web browser. Have you switched yet? As IE’s slice of the pie gets smaller, web designers and developers feel happier, because IE doesn’t follow the rules (standards) of proper web design.
“Internet Explorer continues losing its market share. This time it lost more than 1%, from 74.83% to 73.75% (1.08% decrease).” Read more at Internet Explorer Loses.
